Objectives
The Learning
Resource Center serves four communities: the students, the tutors,
the faculty, and the Holy Cross community as a whole. Our objectives
consider the needs of each.
For
the STUDENTS, we:

Provide free assistance for
all students in the Holy Cross community, regardless of background
-
Help identify his or her strengths
and weaknesses

Help build self-confidence,
skills, success, and independence
-
Help the students make an intellectual
connection to their work and see how it applies to the outside world
For
the TUTORS, we:

Reinforce subject area skills

Teach transferable tutoring
skills including communication, questioning strategies, problem solving,
and self-confidence

Provide an opportunity to become
academic role models

Provide leadership opportunities

Provide volunteer and service
learning opportunities
For
the FACULTY, we:

Support their methodology

Provide feedback about their
students who visit the LRC

Support their ‘learning across
the curriculum’ efforts

the HOLY CROSS COMMUNITY, we:

Help create an academic culture
where learning and intellectual inquiry are valued and encouraged

Provide opportunities for residents
