Tutor Training Options
Students interested in working
in our Learning Resource Center (LRC) at
Students who wish to
become peer tutors are encouraged to attend our tutor-training sessions. They are typically offered in the late
afternoons or evenings, and are provided at no cost. When a student successfully completes nine hours of training and evaluation, along with minimum requirements of actual tutoring time, he will be granted International Tutoring Certification, Level I from the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) www.crla.net. This certification is recognized at many four-year colleges and universities throughout our country. Each semester, there are some students who would like
to tutor math in the LRC but are unable to fit the tutor-training sessions
into their schedules. These students
are individually provided with a handbook and adequate personal training, and
are monitored closely for progress.
