Objective: To apply
the concepts of interpersonal communications as outlined in the chapters
of the textbook to a "real life" situation for a greater understanding
of relational differences.
Directions:
Using each chapter theme, analyze at least 7 different chapters according to their application to a real life situation. I expect all major themes of each chapter to be addressed.
Possible questions for discussion are on the web page under portfolio. You will find topics for discussion for both relationships and cultural analysis addressed for each chapter. You are welcome to use these topics or you can create your own. I do expect all major themes of each chapter to be addressed in the portfolio.
If you are using a relationship, choose a significant relationship and use the same one throughout the entire portfolio.
If you are analyzing a culture, use the same culture throughout the entire portfolio.
Tip: Often times a relationship that has some conflict in it will work better for this assignment. It may be someone from your family, a significant other, a co-worker, a roommate etc.
You may be as creative as you desire. You may write a report, do it orally as an audio cassette, videotape something and explain it, videotape the entire portfolio, use pictures and diagrams, etc. It may even be done as a couple, both contributing to the discussion. The final objective is to explain the relationship as clearly as possible.
