Mass Communications
? What it is and how it differs from Interpersonal Communications.
RESEARCH PAPER:
A five (5) page, double spaced, typed research paper is required. Each student may choose from the list above for a topic. If a student wishes to research a topic not on the list, they must have the instructor's approval of the topic before starting the paper.
The research paper
MUST
BE TYPED. Font size should be between 10 and
14. No script or all caps are to be used. 2 inch margins or
default marginsare to be used.
The research
paper must contain a bibliography of at least 5 different sources besides
the textbook for the course.
The paper should
also include photocopies of the resource materials that form the bibliography.
The format must
follow that used in current English courses at Holy Cross College. Consult
the writing lab, an English instructor or the librarian if you have any
questions.
If plagiarism
is found in the research material, it will result in a failing grade.
Endnotes rather
than footnotes may be used, if desired. Notation within the body
of the text is preferred.
This activity
is worth 20% or
200 points of your grade. If not handed in on the due date, 5 points
will be deducted for each day that it is late including days that class
does not meet and weekends.
ORAL REPORT:
Each student is
asked to give a 5 minute oral report over the research paper. This
will be scattered throughout the last half of the semester. The oral
report should not be longer than 5 minutes in length and should cover the
essential material of the report but should not be read. This activity
accounts for 10%
or 100 points of your grade. Remember, this activity can change your
grade by a complete letter grade.
