1. Do the research necessary to become a responsible speaker.
2.. Be sensitive to the impact of your words on others.
3. Present all sides of an issue fairly before explaining your
position.
4. Be honest about where you stand on your topic.
5. Acknowledge any possible differences between your own beliefs,
values, and attitudes and those that some fo your listeners may
entertain.
6. Show how these differences might be bridges.
7. Demonstrate that you are willing to follow your own advice.
8. Trust your listeners if you would have them trust you.
